Underground 2 : The Other Guys 6

Defensive frailties and two own goals consigned Underground to a heavy 2-6 defeat to The Other Guys on Saturday.

Liam Winn scored both of Underground's goals as they tried to fight back from a 1-3 half-time deficit. They reduced it to a one-goal lead before The Other Guys awoke from their slumber in clinical fashion to claim a much-needed win.

While no matches ride on it, there was almost an element of hard luck for the orange-and-blacks. They proved that while they have a growing number of attacking players who can score goals, two unfortunate own goals seemed to subconsciously draw bowed heads and disappointment.

The bonus point win sees The Other Guys hold on to third spot, while Underground's season is starting to look all the more shaky. The side will need a win against the inconsistent West City and further points against BCC Grundies if they wish to assure themselves of survival in the second division.
The sun may well have been out, but it was raining goals at Riversdale Reserve and most of them were headed towards the Underground goal.

A synergised performance from The Other Guys proved they are more than their name suggests. Dominating play early, they capitalised with two quick goals to ensure Underground were left ruing defensive errors that cost them.

Winn's first goal gave Underground an opportunity to reel in their opponents until a Dave Stanyer own goal late in the first half re-established a handy two-goal buffer at half-time.

Underground came out firing in the second half and deservedly pegged back a goal from Winn. The tall midfielder's stunning strike surprised the goalkeeper and subsequently reduced the advantage back to one.

From there it looked like the match was in Underground's hands with 20 minutes remaining until some poor defending and an own goal to captain Ryan Hodgson blew the scoreline out to 2-6 by full-time.

Having conceded the fourth goal the side were powerless to stop The Other Guys' attacking momentum regain its mojo and a handy buffer en route to the four-goal win.
