End of season awards
Underground FC have had a fantastic 2012 season. To get promotion to the Major league and finish the regular season undefeated is an outstanding achievement. Being pipped at the post was a bitter pill to swallow, but by winning the following game to finish 3rd Underground have a lot to be proud of.
The golden boot award goes to Sam Foster with 12 goals for the season. At virtually a goal a game he has stormed onto the scene and much credit needs to go to him for helping the Underground cause.
The most improved player award goes to Joseph Cottle. This lad has come a long way from his early days in the Underground team and has become a key contributor on the left wing. He has a few assists to his name and was unlucky not to score a goal.
The most valuable player award goes to Andy Speir. He is a colossus between the sticks and is a revered and respected member of the Underground team. His authority in the goal box and long goal kicks are just some of the key attributes Andy possesses. Time and time again Underground have come to rely on his shot stopping ability. His match against Grundies was a particularly prominant one where he made numerous acrobatic saves. An impressive 5 clean sheets from 12 games is an indication of just how important he is for the team.
