Who are Underground FC?

From small beginnings to title-winners, the rapid rise of Underground FC cannot be understated.

HAving started in 2011, an initially tough patch saw Underground narrowly avoid relegation from the third division - the Super League - in the first half of the season.

From there they haven't looked back, with only one loss in the second half of that season ensuring they would be back with a vengeance in 2012.

Not even Underground could prepare for what was ahead of them in just their second season.

Having comfortably sealed top spot in the Super League in the first half of the season, UFC were promoted to the Major League, the second division of the New Zealand Christian Football Association (NZCFA) League.

Earning double points meant Underground FC were able to make up ground and secure the league ahead of the playoffs.

They narrowly lost in the semi-finals of the competition, but were unfazed having won the round tournament that required determination, grit and spirit.

In 2013, those same key traits won't be far from each of the 19 players' minds throughout the season.

Staying in the second division - if not being promoted to the top division - is sure to be the goal for the season.

And after the stunning introduction to life in the NZCFA Major League, these players can certainly dare to dream big.
